HDR photography - A Post from Paris by Will Austin

Will Austin is an editorial, architectural, location and travel photographer based in Seattle. He shoots all over the world and we were lucky to tap into his personal vacation in Paris. This is his first post from the vacation and we hope to see more.

Here's how Will thought through the creating the image.

After having an amazing meal at the bistro on this corner in the Montmartre neighborhood I decided to do a night shot. I wanted to take the photo when there was a little more light in the sky but dinner ran late. I waited for a couple of cars to drive by so I could capture the tail light streaks and I used a 3-stop bracket. HDR Express did remove some of the light trails so I put them back in later with another layer. You can see the very wide tonal range expressed here, from the shadow areas to the very bright neon signs, but the image still looks correct to the eye, just the way I saw it on a hot Paris evening.

Thanks Will!
